Class Size: Unlimited
Class Description Discover songs collected over many years from the Scottish, Irish, and English traveler communities. Over this time, Sam met with singers and family members from all those communities, learning the songs that have been passed down, often only orally, from one generation to the next, and researching their history before proceeding to imagine arrangements that allow the songs to reach beyond simply a vocal rendition and provide an appropriate musical context that allows Sam to bring these songs to the attention of audiences around the World.
Instructor Bio Sam Lee plays a unique role in the British music scene. A highly inventive and original singer, folk song interpreter, a passionate conservationist, committed song collector, and a successful creator of live events. Alongside his organization, The Nest Collective and fellow collaborators Sam has shaken up the live music scene breaking the boundaries between folk and contemporary music and the assumed place and way folksong is heard.
