Blissfest Patrons with Sunday day tickets for the 38th annual Blissfest will unfortunately be unable to attend the event this year. Emmet County administrators have taken the position that Sunday day sales are a violation of Blissfest’s agreement to adhere to a strict number of sales for each day. We have done everything we can to try and resolve this issue with Emmet County, but they are not willing to compromise. We will be issuing refunds to all Sunday ticket holders ASAP. Patrons are cautioned not to attempt to enter the Blissfest with a Sunday ticket. Emmet County officials have indicated they are authorized to be on hand to enforce the zoning agreement and you will be turned away.

The organization is in the process of refunding all Sunday ticket holders and, as additional consideration, Blissfest will offer these unfortunate patrons with a Blissfest membership for 2019 and are discussing other options. We are exceedingly disappointed and sorry for this inconvenience.

Blissfest is in the process of refunding all 263 paid Sunday day tickets to this year’s festival. “We are a bit stunned with the County’s decision.” said Susan Scott, BMO Board President. “We offer day tickets on Sundaydue to the large number of weekend pass patrons that depart on Sundaymorning to return home. Sunday is our quietest day and the day that many local people and neighbors choose to come enjoy the show”. The county has taken the position that once a paid weekend ticket holder leaves the festival, that paid weekend ticket may not be re-sold or transferred despite the fact that this would keep the overall paid patrons below the numbers allowed in the consent judgement. We outlined a plan to document the early departure of those weekend ticket holders via our attorney on Tuesday, July 9 and the rejection of that proposal was received today, Thursday July 12. Detailed records of all early departures will still be kept this to potentially facilitate an amendment to the consent judgement allowing us to return to our Sunday day pass sales in 2019.

Blissfest Music Organization has made considerable good faith efforts over the years to comply with both the spirit and letter of the Consent Judgment, as amended, and is proud of its record in doing so. Our decision to comply with the County’s demands is further evidence of our good faith and willingness to cooperate with the County, other local governmental organizations and neighbors to ensure a bright progressive future for the Blissfest Music Organization and our annual summer fundraiser, which provides the financial support for our outreach programs and support for our local communities throughout the year.

Volunteering Questions? Check this out.

FAQs ONLY for volunteers who have already applied and have been accepted.

We are not longer accepting any volunteer applications.

1) Can I just go to the festival now and not volunteer?

*If you are planning on attending Blissfest, we need you to choose the 2 four hour shifts. Blissfest will not sell you a wristband.

*There is no other way to attend at this point, unless you purchase a ticket outside of our organization. Beware of false wristbands. If you buy a false or deactivated wristband from a 3rd party and it does not work at the gate you will not gain entry.

2) What if I’m not going anymore?

*If you are no longer attending or volunteering, let us know. You can complete a refund request form that is reviewed after festival. We are generally non-refundable.

3) Are there any good shifts left?

There are still shifts available, but space is running out and you may have to work a time frame that is not your favorite, but it’s always fun AND helpful. We need you!

4) What about my wristband?

Once you have chosen your shifts after approval, you pick up your wristband on site at the Main Gate Volunteer Check – In Booth.
